VARANASI, Oct. 3 -- The Banaras Hindu University (BHU) unit of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) intensified its ongoing protest on Friday, marking the tenth day of a strike aimed at demanding enhanced student safety and administrative accountability. With the deadlock between the student union and university authorities persisting, ABVP activists staged a symbolic "dead body" demonstration near the Vishwanath Temple complex to protest what they described as the administration's continued apathy. During the demonstration, activists lay on the ground in a representation of bodies, an act they said highlighted the administration's failure to address critical concerns, including the demand for the removal of the chief proctor. "Today marks the tenth day of our indefinite protest, but no concrete initiative has been taken so far on the legitimate demands of the students," said Pallav Suman, president of the ABVP BHU unit. "Student safety must be the highest priority of any university. When students are compelled to continue protesting for days, it raises serious questions about the functioning of the administration." Anurag Tiwari, the unit secretary, outlined a broader list of grievances, citing the need for a more conducive academic environment. "The university administration has a responsibility to provide students with a safe, clean, and conducive academic environment," Tiwari said. As of Friday evening, there had been no official response from the university regarding the demonstration or the status of the students' demands. HTC...
