Barmer, Sept. 15 -- A Deputy Superintendent of Police in Barmer has been removed from his post after allegedly slapping his driver, while the victim has been shifted to the police line. The incident, which surfaced after a viral audio clip of the driver narrating his ordeal, has triggered widespread outrage and demands for a transparent investigation. The alleged altercation occurred on the night of September 11, 2025, around 9:30 p.m., while returning from an inquiry in Dhanau. According to the victim, Head Constable Ramuram Meghwal, the officer-accompanied by his reader-abused him over his driving, stopped the vehicle, and slapped him. Meghwal said he reported the matter to Barmer Superintendent of Police (SP) Narendra Singh Meena but was ignored by senior officers and pressured to sign a compromise. Chohtan DSP Jeevanlal Khatri, the accused officer, has denied the allegations, claiming the driver was driving carelessly and obstructed his path. He maintained that the issue had been resolved amicably in the presence of senior officers and accused Meghwal of exaggerating the matter under external influence. The audio clip, which went viral on September 12, has intensified scrutiny, particularly within the SC community, to which Meghwal belongs. On Sunday, community members staged a protest and submitted a memorandum addressed to the chief minister, demanding a detailed and impartial probe. Later that day, following directions from Director General of Police (DGP) Rajeev Sharma, Additional Director General (ADG-Personnel) Sachin Mittal issued an order placing DSP Khatri on Awaiting Posting Orders (APO), effectively removing him from his current post....
