Bank heist plot busted during Lucknow theft investigation
LUCKNOW, March 19 -- A routine investigation into residential burglaries in Gomti Nagar has uncovered an audacious scheme. Police say the accused were planning to rob a Barabanki bank by exploiting loosened soil during the monsoon season.
The arrests of Santosh Kashyap alias Rahul, 19, plus detention of a minor accomplice revealed the gang's plot. Investigators say the suspects intended to dig into the bank once rains softened the ground.
"During monsoon, when the soil loosens, they were planning to dig the soil, get into the bank plus loot it." A major incident was averted before execution since they had already identified the bank plus conducted proper surveillance," said DCP East Shashank Singh.
