PRAYAGRAJ, June 26 -- The Special Task Force (STF) has arrested Mohammad Shamshad Ansari, an assistant director of the now-defunct Shine City Proxima group, who carried a reward of Rs.1 lakh in connection with a multi-crore investment fraud case. Ansari had been absconding for nearly three years. He was arrested near GT Road in the Utraon area on Wednesday night by the STF's Ayodhya unit. Ansari, a resident of LDA Colony, Shivkuti, faced multiple cases registered at Sultanpur's Kotwali police station in 2022 after the company's management disappeared amid financial irregularities. According to STF, Ansari joined the Shine City network in 2014 after being persuaded by associate Asif Naseem to leave his job in the Merchant Navy. Following his arrest, Ansari was handed over to the Sultanpur police for further legal proceedings. A 32-year-old motorcyclist was killed after being struck by a gas-laden truck near Gadha Katra in the Shankargarh police station limits early Thursday. The driver fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle. The victim was identified as Gulab Kol, a resident of Pathariya village in Madhya Pradesh's Mauganj district. Police stated that the truck, traveling from the Prayagraj side, collided with Kol's motorcycle. Local residents rushed the critically injured victim to the Shankargarh Community Health Centre, where he was declared dead on arrival.
