Dehradun, Aug. 11 -- Uttarakhand police booked an Army Major and 15 unidentified jawans after they allegedly assaulted a policeman and home guard near in Chamoli, officers said on Monday. Major Anmol Preet and 15 others was registered were booked on August 8. Constable Vijay Singh in the complaint said he was on traffic duty with additional sub-inspector (ASI) Mukesh Kumar when they were informed that home guard personnel Dinesh had allegedly been assaulted and forcibly taken away in an Army truck near Mana bridge. According to the complaint, they pulled Dinesh out of the truck, following which he told police that while he was managing traffic near Mana bridge, a man in civilian clothes, who was allegedly intoxicated and travelling in the Army Gypsy, assaulted him. He later came back with an Army truck carrying around 10-15 personnel, who allegedly attacked him. According to the complaint, constable Singh began recording the incident, following which the man allegedly threw the phone and instructed the personnel to "kill him and throw him into the river". Singh alleged that the Army personnel then attacked him with sticks, causing injuries to his head, left elbow, right ear and right leg. Chamoli SP Surjeet Singh Panwar said, "We have registered an FIR in the matter and the investigation is underway." Lt Col Chetan Singh Kabsuri, defence PRO Dehradun, said, "We have learnt about the incident through newspapers. The investigation is underway."
