Chandigarh, Aug. 8 -- The Punjab government on Friday transferred Amritsar commissioner of police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, days after his claims of a busting a Pakistan-backed terror module trying to attack the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar triggered a row. The Aam Aadmi Party-led government posted Bhullar at DGP's office in Chandigarh till further orders and gave charge to Border Range DIG Harmanbir Singh Gill. A 2004-batch Punjab cadre IPS officer, Bhullar had taken over in November 2023. On August 4, he had addressed media to announce the arrest of nine people, including four minors, in connection with an alleged terror module that he claimed also tried to hurl petrol bombs at the protest site in Jantar Mantar. Bhullar did not respond to HT's repeated requests for comment till late on Friday....
