AGRA, July 7 -- The district administration has ordered the closure of five water parks in Agra for allegedly failing to meet basic safety norms. The parks have been directed to remain closed until further orders. Officials said the water parks were operating without the required permissions and lacked mandatory safety measures for swimming pools, particularly in rural areas. The action comes within a week of the arrest of a water park owner in connection with the drowning of a nine-year-old boy at a swimming pool in Agra's Khandoli area. A case was registered against the owner at Khandoli police station on a complaint by the victim's family. The latest victim, Avi (9), son of an autorickshaw driver, had visited the water park with friends on Wednesday last. He reportedly entered the deeper section of the pool and drowned. His family alleged that the park lacked trained lifeguards and CCTV surveillance and claimed the staff failed to respond in time....
