LUCKNOW, Sept. 3 -- In the wake of Sunday's explosion at an illegal firecracker unit in Behta that claimed two lives and left several injured, Lucknow police have stepped up measures to prevent similar incidents during the upcoming festive season.
On Tuesday, joint commissioner of police (Law and Order) Babloo Kumar held a high-level meeting with 101 licensed firecracker traders and manufacturers from different zones of the district. The meeting, attended by representatives from Lucknow Fireworks Dealers Welfare Association, focused on strict compliance with safety norms.
Officials stressed that storage and sale locations of firecrackers must adhere to all prescribed safety standards. "All stock points should be away from densely populated colonies and residential clusters. There should be no highly inflammable substances stored that can trigger accidental blasts," Kumar directed.
Dealers must keep a copy of their license visibly displayed for inspection, they were told. HTC...
