After 51 arrests, Varanasi Police targets 36 long-term absconders
VARANASI, June 25 -- Bolstered by a successful crackdown on cow smuggling, the Varanasi police range has announced fresh bounties on 36 high-priority criminals who have evaded capture for over a year. Between February and June, the Varanasi police launched a targeted drive against cow smugglers, resulting in the arrest of 51 individuals, each of whom carried a reward of Rs.50,000.
Deputy inspector general (DIG) of police, Varanasi Range, Vaibhav Krishna, stated that the operation initially focused on 54 wanted individuals: 50 from Chandauli and four from Ghazipur. Following the arrest of 51 suspects, the police have achieved a clearance rate of approximately 94% regarding the targeted list.
Buoyed by this success, the police have expanded their strategy to tackle long-standing cases.
The 36 wanted criminals are evenly distributed across three districts: Chandauli- 12 individuals; Ghazipur- 12 individuals and Jaunpur- 12 individuals....
