Aban buried near father Atiq, jailed brothers attend funeral
PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 9 -- The body of slain mafia-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed's youngest son, Aban, 21, was buried at the Kasari Masari graveyard in Prayagraj on Saturday evening, two days after he was killed in a road accident in Jhansi. He was laid to rest near the graves of his father and brother.
Aban's burial was delayed because his elder brothers, Umar Ahmed and Ali Ahmed, who are lodged in Lucknow and Jhansi jails in connection with criminal cases, were granted parole by the Allahabad high court to attend the funeral.
Aban and his friend Sonu were killed in the accident in Jhansi on the morning of August 6, while three others travelling with them were seriously injured. After the postmortem report, their bodies were brought to Hatwa village in Puramufti on Friday morning. Sonu was buried at a graveyard in Hatwa the same day.
Umar was brought from Lucknow jail to the Kasari Masari graveyard around 4:30 pm under police escort, while Ali arrived from Jhansi jail about an hour later.
Abaan's body was brought from Hatwa in an ambulance around 6 pm. Funeral prayers were offered before he was buried.
