A call for unity against division and hatred
LUCKNOW, Oct. 4 -- Social activists and intellectuals gathered at the Moti Mahal auditorium on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, in Lucknow, where participants pledged to unite and resist the growing forces of division and hatred in society. Speakers emphasised that in today's era of unemployment, inequality, and capitalist dominance, it is Gandhi's path alone that can guide society towards a just and humane future.
Former LU professor Ramesh Dixit said that Mahatma Gandhi was a strong voice against injustice. He stressed the need to understand the "Later Gandhi" and follow the path he showed. Former LU V-C prof Roop Rekha Verma said Gandhi represents courage and determination. She said spreading Gandhi's message to every home would be the truest tribute to him.
Prof Nadeem Hasnain said that Gandhi always stood for the last person in society. Prof Ravi Kant highlighted that Gandhi never bore enmity towards anyone despite ideological differences. Senior journalist Ramdutt Tripathi said Gandhi continues to inspire the entire world. He said there was a need for collective efforts to spread Gandhi's ideas far and wide.
The seminar was addressed by Vandana Mishra, Rakesh Veda, Haricharan Prakash, Virendra Kumar Singh, Athar Hussain, Anil Tripathi, and Kalanidhi Mishra among others.
