8 held for sending threat through social media
VARANASI, Jan. 1 -- Eight people were arrested for forming a gang in the name of "Bahubali 9999" and "5050" on social media platforms and spreading anarchy through sending threat messages, police said. The accused were arrested from Jiyanpur area of Azamgarh.
Additional superintendent of police (rural) Chirag Jain said that on Wednesday, the SHO of Jiyanpur, inspector Rajkumar Singh along with his police team, took action and arrested eight members of a gang who were spreading fear and terror among the general public through social media platforms, using IDs named "Bahubali 9999" and "5050".
The leader of this gang is Ramchandra alias Maiku, a resident of Bharoli village, who is a notorious criminal. His gang members were spreading anarchy in the area through provocative and fear-inducing activities on social media.
After information, the accused Ajay Yadav, Ramratan Yadav, Bholenath Yadav, Upendra Yadav, Aryaman Yadav, Ankit Kumar, Rajkumar and Aditya Yadav, all residents of different areas of Azamgarh were arrested, said the police officer.
A police team led by station house officer Rajkumar Singh made the arrest. Legal action was ensured against the accused.
SP RA Jain said that district police will continue to take strict action against those who spread rumors, fear, or anarchy through social media. The general public is requested to immediately inform the police about any misleading or objectionable social media activity, he said....
