8-fold rise in flights from Gkp airport
GORAKHPUR, June 16 -- The Gorakhpur airport on Monday celebrated Passenger Facilitation Day, highlighting the remarkable expansion of air connectivity in eastern Uttar Pradesh. The number of daily flights has increased nearly eightfold - from a single flight operating three times a week in 2014 to around 24 flights per day at present.
Air Force Station director Sanjay Kumar said that Passenger Facilitation Day was being observed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) at airports across the country.
"Passenger Facilitation Day has been organised by the AAI nationwide. At Gorakhpur airport, it has been observed with a special focus on public participation, passenger convenience and environmental conservation," he said.
He added that alongside providing excellent services to passengers, the airport administration remains committed to promoting environmental protection and sustainable development.
Officials also highlighted the airport's ongoing expansion plans, noting that the UP government has provided 42.12 acres of land for the development of new airport infrastructure.
