7 arrested in Aligarh for fake insurance claims on forged documents
Agra, Aug. 20 -- Seven people were arrested for preparing fake medical documents to claim insurance for road accidents that never took place. Police busted the racket after a woman sub-inspector at Quarsi police station found that FIRs lodged for these fake cases, about 25 this year, had similar content.
Superintendent of police (city), Aligarh, Aditya Bansal said that seven people, all residents of localities within limit of Quarsi police station of Aligarh, were arrested on Wednesday after police busted the racket involved in lodging fake insurance claims of imaginary accidents in which three to four people were shown as injured and fake medical documents were prepared by these accused.
Nisha Ujjawal, a woman sub-inspector, was the investigating officer in one of the accident cases registered at the Quarsi police station and came across at least 25 cases this year where the FIR lodged had similar language and content. In all these cases, three to four were shown to be injured.
Growing suspicious, SI Nisha cross-checked the documents for these cases from hospitals and found that medical documents submitted in these cases were fake. In some cases, these documents were issued on forged letter heads of reputed hospitals while in other cases they were in the name of hospitals which existed nowhere.
"On detailed investigation, police came across certain names involved in this racket of fake insurance claim cases and seven people - Tarun, Dharmendra, Pawan, Rajesh, Jagdish Prasad, Dharmendra and Jitendra - were from different localities within limit of Quarsi police station of Aligarh," the SP city said. Bansal said that the Aligarh Police has now registered three cases including those by hospitals whose letterheads were forged for fake medical reports. These cases are registered against the seven accused arrested for fraud and forgery.
