6 of 52 posts on mp chadha to be taken down: hc
New Delhi, July 2 -- Humour about changes in political party alliances, governance and policies is part and parcel of politics and social media content about such decisions cannot automatically be considered offensive or defamatory, the Delhi high court ruled on Wednesday as it refused to order takedown of 46 posts criticising politician Raghav Chadha's decision to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) but directed the removal of six posts containing "explicit content."
A bench of justice Subramonium Prasad held that 46 of the 52 posts Chadha sought removal of appeared to be satirical expressions. The court observed that decisions taken by politicians are likely to invite both "bouquets and brickbats" from the public, and public figures should not be "thin-skinned" .
