GORAKHPUR, Sept. 5 -- Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday described the introduction of the two-slab Goods and Services Tax system as a "new chapter in taxation" under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Extending gratitude to Prime Minister and Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, the CM said the reform will support MSMEs, startups and create millions of jobs. "The next-generation GST reform announced by the Prime Minister on Independence Day is now becoming a reality. This is not just a tax reform but a decisive step toward making India a leading global economy with high growth rates," he said. Responding to media queries, the CM explained that the new GST structure would include two major slabs-5% and 18%. Simplified registration and faster refunds will ease the burden on entrepreneurs and startups, significantly strengthening the Ease of Doing Business, he said.
