2 dead, 1 hurt as speeding car falls into canal
LUCKNOW, Jan. 2 -- Two men were killed and another seriously injured after a speeding car lost control and fell into a canal near Rajauli Para village under Gudamba police station limits near here late on Wednesday night, police said.
According to police, the vehicle lost control near the Behta Mati-Para stretch and fell into the canal. Hearing a loud crash, locals rushed to the spot and alerted the police.
The deceased have been identified as Vinod Yadav (45), a property dealer and resident of Palia Kursi Road in Barabanki, and Arun (23). Vinod was living with his wife Meena and son Abhay near Gudamba police station. The injured was identified as Kunwar.
Police teams reached the spot and pulled the car out of the canal.
All three occupants were rushed to CHC Gudamba, where doctors declared Vinod and Arun dead on arrival. Kunwar sustained serious injuries but is stated to be stable, said Gudamba SHO Prabhatesh Srivastava.
Family members of the deceased demanded a fair probe into the incident. Vinod's brother Virendra sought questioning of the injured companion to ascertain the sequence of events. Arun's father Santosh Rawat said his son was recently married and his wife was pregnant.
