PRAYAGRAJ, Sept. 8 -- Police have launched a major crackdown on the illegal manufacture, storage and sale of firecrackers across the district, registering 10 cases and arresting 17 people in separate operations. The action follows the recent explosion at an illegal firecracker unit in Chilla Shahbazi and aims to prevent similar incidents. Acting on the directions of superintendent of police Satyanarayan Prajapat, police teams have been carrying out intensive checking and search operations in towns, markets and other sensitive locations. The raids were conducted based on information received through mobile phone inputs and other intelligence sources.
