150 students learn CPR, basic life support
LUCKNOW, Aug. 31 -- King George's Medical University (KGMU) has launched a programme 'Hriday Sanjeevani' to train school students in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and basic life support (BLS), with the aim of making every student first responder during medical emergencies.
Launched under the guidance of deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak and the initiative of KGMU vice-chancellor, Prof Soniya Nityanand, the programme began at Saraswati Shishu Mandir Inter College, Nirala Nagar. More than 150 students received hands-on CPR and BLS training during the launch, stated a press release shared with media on Sunday.
A key feature of the programme is its poetry-based CPR protocol, designed to help students easily remember the sequence of emergency response. The steps have been converted into a simple Hindi rhyme covering checking responsiveness and breathing, calling for help, chest compressions and rescue breaths, it stated.
"Health awareness cannot remain confined within hospital walls. Through 'Hriday Sanjeevani', we want every student to become a responsible citizen capable of saving a life in an emergency," Prof Soniya Nityanand said. htc...
