LUCKNOW, June 11 -- The Banthra police in Lucknow apprehended a 15-year-old boy on Wednesday in connection with the rape of an 11-year-old girl studying in class 6. According to police, the incident happened on Tuesday when her parents, both labourers, had gone to work. She was alone with her younger brother when the 15-year-old accused and a neighbour arrived and committed the act in the evening. The girl revealed her ordeal after her mother returned home late in the evening. "The case was registered on June 9 following a complaint filed by the victim's family at the Banthra police station. An FIR has been filed under Section 65(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 5M/6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act," said assistant commissioner of police, Krishnanagar, Rajnish Verma.
