LUCKNOW, Aug. 22 -- As many as 115 trees were transplanted at Lucknow University's second campus. These trees were reportedly obstructing work and the Forest Department carried out the process. The department had granted permission to either cut or transplant the trees, but the University, fulfilling its social responsibility, chose to transplant them. University spokesperson Prof. Mukul Srivastava said, "The University is adopting the progressive policy of 'Development with Environmental Conservation,' proving that with modern technology and strong will, even old and dense trees can be given a new lease of life. The 115 transplanted trees include Sheesham and Guava, among other varieties crucial for maintaining biodiversity on campus."
