105 vehicles booked in Lko number plate crackdown, most were cars
LUCKNOW, June 22 -- A three-day traffic police drive in Lucknow found that four-wheelers were leading the list of vehicles operating without registration number plates. Police booked 105 violators during the campaign, with cars accounting for the majority of the cases.
The special enforcement drive was conducted from Thursday to Saturday at major intersections, busy markets, sensitive routes and other key locations across the state capital. "Vehicles without registration plates pose a serious challenge to road safety and law enforcement as they are difficult to trace in cases of accidents, hit-and-run incidents, traffic violations and other crimes," DCP Traffic, Raveena Tyagi, said.
"Displaying a valid and clearly visible registration number is not just a legal requirement but also a matter of public safety," she added.
The traffic police also cautioned motorists against using fancy, modified or obscured number plates.
Authorities clarified that even newly purchased vehicles cannot be driven on public roads without displaying either a permanent registration number or a valid temporary registration number. Traffic officials said the enforcement campaign will continue in the coming days, particularly along busy corridors and congestion-prone stretches.htc...
