100 murder case files recalled from court of Muzaffarnagar judge
Meerut, Aug. 20 -- The district and sessions judge in Muzaffarnagar has recalled 100 murder case files from the court of Ravi Kumar Diwakar, presiding officer of the additional district and sessions court/fast track court No. 3, where 22 convicts, including a woman, were sentenced to death in nine cases within 129 days between April 6 and August 13 this year.
The recalled cases will now be heard in the court of the district and sessions judge. Assistant district government counsel (Criminal) Kuldeep Kumar, representing the prosecution in the fast track court, confirmed that all 100 files recalled by district judge Birendra Kumar Singh relate to murder cases.
Former District Bar Association presidents Anil Jindal and Shyamveer Singh confirmed that cases in which they were representing parties had been recalled by the district and sessions court. According to them, the files concern pending trials, while cases in which judgments have already been delivered will not be affected by the move.
This means that the pending matters will now be placed before the district and sessions court for further proceedings, while the judgments already pronounced by Diwakar will remain unaffected....
