Thiruvananthapuram, Aug. 28 -- The VD Satheesan-led United Democratic Front (UDF) government completed 100 days in office on August 26, following a 102-seat landslide victory in May that ended a decade in opposition. Satheesan trumped his party colleagues KC Venugopal and Ramesh Chennithala to the state's top post after nearly two weeks of hectic deliberations in Delhi. Here are some of the important decisions undertaken during his 100-day-long tenure: Delivered free KSRTC ordinary bus travel for women of all backgrounds, supported by an annual Rs.800 crore state allocation. The government, in its first cabinet meeting, approved a Rs.3,000 hike for ASHAs and Rs.1,000 increase for anganwadi workers, midday meal staff and pre-primary teachers. A drive against drugs, 'Operation Toofan', has led to the arrest of over 10,000, and seizure of 8.24 kg of MDMA and 979 kg of ganja till August 21. However, four of the five core election promises, including welfare pension hikes, student financial aid, health cover, and interest-free startup loans, remain stalled due to state financial constraints. The cabinet's move to implement PM-SHRI scheme in the state has ticked off key coalition ally IUML.
