'Working on cost-cutting to run schemes more effectively'
Bhopal, Dec. 15 -- Madhya Pradesh chief minister Mohan Yadav, who completed two years in office, talks about the challenges he faced and his priorities for the coming years in an interview with HT. Edited excerpts:
In our party, everyone follows the directions. Leadership is respected regardless of seniority, just like in cricket. If a junior becomes the captain of the team, the team respects the captain... and the captain also respects the seniors... Team spirit is paramount. We set aside egos and work together. My management approach has always been to speak with humility and respect all the team members, without any hidden agenda or motives and ensure transparency.
Delhi is where the NDA government and multiple ministries operate. The state government must coordinate closely with the Centre, so what's wrong in that? The CM plays a crucial role in resolving interdepartmental issues. My visits are for better coordination and to address matters concerning different departments.
We are working on cost cutting to reduce the expenses to run populist schemes. Soon, more such decisions will be taken to cut down unnecessary expenses in different sectors.
We are deeply committed towards our ladli behnas. The scheme will be upgraded in the coming months to improve their lives with a focus on making them self-reliant.
We have received investment proposals of Rs.30 lakh crore across different summits. Of these, proposals of Rs.8 lakh crore have materialised, work has begun on projects worth Rs.6 lakh crore and we have invited Union home minister Amit Shah for inauguration of investment of Rs.2 lakh crore.
Both my sons got married after I became chief minister and we chose simplicity. We solemnised the marriage of my son in a mass ceremony to promote social harmony and convey the message of equality as taught by our organisation.
Agriculture and developing a market for our crop is our priority for 2026. We will establish processing units in MP for bumper crops and focus on generating employment in the state. I directed all the departments to prioritise job creation for the youth....
