LUCKNOW, Aug. 28 -- Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) will transform 24 acres of land on the Kukrail riverbanks into a dense green zone named 'Urmila Forest', aimed at improving the city's environmental balance and providing residents with a natural urban lung space. Officials said the forest will be developed in its natural form, with no civil construction except fencing for security. LDA vice chairman Prathamesh Kumar said the land near Papermill Colony in Bhikhapur, recently freed from encroachment, will be developed into the forest using the Miyawaki method, a technique to create dense forests in urban areas. A wide range of species, including Banyan, Peepal, Pakkad, Pilkhan, Mango, Guava, Neem, Jamun, Arjuna, and Bamboo, will be planted.
