LUCKNOW, May 24 -- The post-mortem examination of a 30-year-old man who was dragged into the Saryu by a crocodile during his mother-in-law's funeral in Gonda district confirmed multiple bite injuries, with experts saying the reptile attempted to feed on the body but could not fully consume it. The body of Deepak Verma, a resident of Gautam Buddh Nagar, was recovered nearly 24 hours after the attack near Sanauli Mohammadpur Udaybhan Pahi village along the Saryu riverbank. Doctors conducting the autopsy on Friday found deep bite marks around the neck, abdomen, shoulder and near the right ear. Portions of Deepak's right arm had also been chewed. Dr Aditya Gaur, who conducted the postmortem, said the victim died due to severe injuries caused during the attack.
