'Keep heart healthy with daily walk, healthy diet'
LUCKNOW, April 9 -- Medical experts have underscored the urgent need for lifestyle changes to reduce cardiac risks. Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, cardiologists highlighted that simple habits such as regular walking, a balanced diet, and adequate sleep can significantly improve heart health.
Addressing the media ahead of the Annual National Interventional Council Conference 2026 to be organised from April 9 to 12 at the Convention Centre of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University, Dr Sharad Chandra from the Lari Cardiology said that walking at least 12,000 steps daily can substantially lower the risk of heart diseases. He stressed that sedentary lifestyle and unhealthy eating patterns are major contributors to cardiac ailments.
"Fast food must be avoided, body weight should remain under control, and daily physical activity should become a routine," he said, adding that even young individuals are increasingly reporting severe heart conditions, including heart attacks. htc...
