NEW DELHI, Sept. 11 -- The Greater Noida executive magistrate who issued a notice to a student of Gautam Buddha University (GBU), Greater Noida, for allegedly participating in a protest by Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) over the alleged paper leak has been suspended, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the Supreme Court on Thursday. The notice, which was issued to GBU student Akshat Tripathi on September 4 asking him to furnish a bond of Rs.5 lakh for allegedly joining the CJP protest, was later withdrawn. The statement came before a bench headed by Chief Justice of India Suryakant and comprising Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice V Mohana, after senior advocate PV Dinesh, appearing for Tripathi, sought an early hearing of the matter. Dinesh told the court that a strong message needed to be sent to the authorities. He pointed out that the notice accused Tripathi of spreading "anti-government misleading talk" among students and required him to furnish a bond. The CJI said the court had taken the matter seriously on Wednesday and had sought the state's response.
