New Delhi, July 21 -- The Supreme Court on Monday said that it will direct the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to implement across the country an Orissa High Court direction requiring the consent form for generating APAAR (Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry) IDs to expressly give parents the option to refuse consent or opt out of the scheme. A bench, headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and also comprising justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana, was hearing a petition challenging the constitutional validity of the Aadhaar-linked student identification system on the ground that, though described as voluntary, it effectively compels students to enrol and raises concerns over privacy and data protection. "We will direct CBSE to implement this judgment on a pan-India basis...We are also directing CBSE to examine the issues raised," said the bench, adding that a detailed order would follow....
