Shimla, March 26 -- The Himachal Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (HPERC) has issued the electricity tariff order for the financial year 2026-27, announcing a marginal reduction of 1 paisa per unit in energy charges across all consumer categories. According to an official press note released on Wednesday, the Commission finalized the tariff structure for Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited (HPSEBL). The Commission has estimated the Aggregate Revenue Requirement (ARR) of HPSEBL at Rs 8,636.16 crore for FY 2026-27, compared to Rs 8,403.25 crore in the previous fiscal. Despite the increase in ARR, the average cost of supply has been slightly reduced to Rs 6.75 per unit from Rs 6.76 per unit in 2025-26. "In line with the reduced cost of supply, the Commission has lowered the existing energy charges by 1 paisa per unit for all categories of consumers," the statement said. The revised tariff, effective from April 1, 2026, outlines category-wise rates. Domestic lifeline consumers (0-60 units) will be charged Rs 4.71 per unit. htc...
