CBI arrests J&K cop in bribery case
JAMMU, Aug. 18 -- The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a sub-inspector of the Jammu and Kashmir Police in a bribery case.
The accused identified as SI Danish Habib was posted at Police Station, Janipur.
Acting on a complaint, the CBI registered a case on August 16 and accordingly laid a trap.
"The accused sub-inspector had demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 from the complainant for not registering an FIR against him in a case pertaining to marital dispute," said a CBI officer.
"The deal was struck at Rs 10,000. We laid a trap and caught the SI red handed while accepting the bribe from the complainant," he added.
