Srinagar, July 30 -- BJP spokesperson Altaf Thakur on Wednesday accused the chief minister Omar Abdullah and Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti of indulging in "selective politics" by repeatedly highlighting the plight of pellet victims, saying they remained silent when such incidents happened during their regimes. He said both leaders must answer to the people of Kashmir for the civilian killings and pellet-related injuries that occurred during their respective tenures in government. Addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters in Srinagar, Thakur said, "Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti should apologise to the people of Kashmir for the civilian killings that took place during their tenure. The people have not forgotten those painful chapters, and those responsible cannot escape accountability by selectively raising issues today," Thakur said. Referring to pellet victims, Thakur said their pain should never be exploited for political mileage. "They deserve justice. Their suffering cannot become a tool for scoring political points whenever elections approach," he said, adding governments should focus on ensuring adequate medical care, financial assistance and rehabilitation for affected families.htc...
