Woman, 2 children held for killing four family members in Ajmer
Ajmer, May 29 -- In a shocking case from Rajasthan's Ajmer district, police have alleged that a woman, along with her teenage son and daughter, murdered her husband, his second wife, mother and niece before setting their bodies on fire inside a Scorpio vehicle to make the deaths appear as a road accident.
The incident took place early Thursday morning in Shri Rampura village under the Borada police station area. Police said they received information around 5.30 am that a Scorpio vehicle had caught fire and several people were trapped inside.
While three bodies were found completely charred inside the vehicle, another woman was discovered in a semi-burnt condition in a nearby field. She later died during treatment.
The deceased were identified as former sarpanch Ram Singh Choudhary (45), his mother and former sarpanch Pusi Devi (85), his second wife Surgyan Devi (40) and niece Mahima.
Police said the case was cracked within hours based on forensic evidence and information provided by villagers.
Ajmer SP Harshvardhan Agrawala said, "Ram Singh's first wife, 40-year-old Sunita, has been arrested, while her 16-year-old son and 19-year-old daughter have been taken into custody for their alleged role in the killings."
Preliminary investigation revealed that Ram Singh allegedly subjected his first wife and children to physical and mental harassment for years. Police said he had allegedly assaulted them again on Wednesday night, following which the accused allegedly planned and carried out the murders.
Investigators said Ram Singh had married Sunita in 2004 and later married Surgyan Devi in 2019, after which tensions within the family reportedly escalated. Police alleged that he frequently assaulted family members while under the influence of alcohol and even restricted the movement of his minor son.
According to police, the accused allegedly slit the throats of all four victims inside the house using a sharp-edged agricultural weapon. In an attempt to portray the crime as an accident, they allegedly siphoned diesel from a tractor parked at the house, placed the bodies in the Scorpio SUV and drove it nearly 500 metres away before setting the vehicle on fire....
