Barmer, July 10 -- A 60-year-old farmer was allegedly beaten to death by his son in Barmer district over a financial dispute on Wednesday night, police said. The deceased has been identified as Rawatram (60), a resident of Shobhala Jetmal, Siyolo Ki Dhani under Barmer Sadar Police Station area. He succumbed to his injuries on Thursday morning, police said. According to police, Rawatram had three sons. The accused, Rekharam (second son), lived separately from his father. Rawatram had sold some land registered in his name, and the proceeds from the sale became the bone of contention. On Wednesday night, Rekharam (32), along with some associates, reached his father's house. An argument broke out and Rekharam and his accomplices allegedly assaulted Rawatram with sticks and rods, leaving him critically injured. Family members rushed him to Barmer District Hospital. The body has been kept in the hospital mortuary for postmortem. Kartar Singh, circle inspector at Sadar police station said that a case has been lodged and the matter is being probed.
