or the sixth time in the history of the ICC Men's Under-19 World Cup, India have emerged champions, defeating England by 100 runs in the final on Friday in Zimbabwe. Former and current Indian cricketers, including Yuvraj Singh, Sachin Tendulkar, and Virat Kohli (inset above), were full of praise for the team, with the spotlight firmly on cricketer Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.
The 14-year-old smashed 175 off just 80 balls, with 15 fours and 15 sixes. The team's effort also drew applause from head coach of the Men's National Cricket Team Gautam Gambhir, who took to X to write, "Proud of you boys! The bright future is here."
India's triumph was built on a monumental batting effort, led by captain Ayush Mhatre, who contributed 53 runs off 51 balls, and powered by Vaibhav's career-defining innings. Cricketer Abhigyan Kundu added a brisk 40 off 31 deliveries as India posted 411/9, while England were bowled out for 311.
