Rajasthan court awards 12 of a family life in jail for 2018 murder
Kota, April 4 -- A court in Kota has sentenced 12 people to life imprisonment in connection with the murder of a youth following a dispute over a goat.
Additional session judge Shweta Sharma on Thursday convicted all 12 persons of the family of murder and also imposed a fine of Rs.13,000 on each of the convicts.
The police had registered a case of murder on September 1, 2018, when Istiyaq Hussain, 22, son of a retired assistant sub-inspector (ASI), died a day after being attacked with sharp weapons and sticks by 10-12 people following a dispute over a goat.
According to prosecution details shared by advocate Riyaz Ahmed, the dispute began over a goat between the victim's relative Abdul Aziz alias Pappu and a neighbour, Ramjani (57). In an attempt to resolve the matter, some people went to Ramjani's house.
However, the situation escalated when Ramjani and his associates allegedly attacked them with knives, wooden sticks, and sharp weapons. Ishtiyaq Hussain sustained fatal injuries in the assault on August 31, 2018.
A case was registered following a complaint by one Zahid Hussain, and the matter had been under trial since 2018. During the proceedings, it emerged that all the accused belonged to the same family.
The Additional Secession Court (Woman Harassment) convicted the main accused Ramjani, his wife Farzana (43), and their two sons Mushtaq (29) and Mukhtar (31), along with Saddam Khan (32), his brother Shahrukh (26), Mubarak Ali (26), Zahir Khan (35), Naimuddin (26), Shahadat (30), and Shaheen Khanam (37), all residents of Bombay Yojana under Udyog Nagar Police Station limits.
Following the court's order, they were sent to jail on Thursday evening, he added.
Notably, this is the first case in Kota district where 12 individuals have been awarded life imprisonment together in a single murder case....
