Princess Diana's 'revenge dress' heads to auction
India, Sept. 12 -- Princess Diana's iconic 'revenge dress' will be up for auction in New York on December 9, three decades after it became one of pop culture's most recognisable looks.
The late British royal wore the Christina Stambolian-designed evening dress to a party in London's Serpentine Gallery in 1994, hours after her husband, then-Prince Charles, publicly admitted to adultery in a televised documentary. It was soon dubbed the 'revenge dress' as it also defied traditional royal dress codes.
Being offered for the first time since 1997, auction house Sotheby's expects the dress to fetch up to £220,000 (approx Rs.2.8 crore). Earlier this year, the vintage Jaguar XJ40 she arrived in at the same event sold for £66,250 (approx Rs.85.7 lakh). HTC...
