Out of 31 cases against Anmol Bishnoi, 22 registered in state
Jaipur, Nov. 20 -- At least 22 cases, majorly of firing and extortion, had been registered in Rajasthan among total 31 cases against jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi's younger brother Anmol Bishnoi, who was arrested by the National Investigation Agency on Wednesday after his deportation from US.
According to his case list across five states accessed by HT, Bishnoi has 22 cases in Rajasthan followed by 5 in Punjab, 2 in Haryana, and one each in Delhi and Mumbai.
While he was first booked and arrested at his birthplace in Punjab's Abohar Fazilka police station on July 14, 2015, his first arrest in Rajasthan took place on March 4, 2017 at Jodhpur's Sastrinagar police station in connection with a firing and extortion case at a businessman Ritesh Lohia's house under IPC Section 387, 455, 34 and relevant sections of the Arms Act.
Till July 14, 2017, Bishnoi, was also arrested in five more cases in Jodhpur in connection with several other firing and extortion cases including the murder of businessman Vasudev Israni at his shop in Sardarpura on September 18, 2017.
"He was also lodged in the Jodhpur Central Jail from 2018 to 2021 during the trial of Israni's murder case. But Anmol didn't stop. The jail staff recovered several mobile phones, SIM cards from him in this period. He had been running several extortion and blackmailing missions from inside the jail only," said a senior police officer from state's Anti Gangster Task Force (AGTF).
One such case was lodged in 2020 at Jodhpur's Ratanada police station under section 42 of the Rajasthan Prison (Amendment) Act 2015 while he was also named in an extortion case in Bikaner's Sridungargarh in 2021 during the jail term.
Soon after getting a bail in 2021, Anmol fled to the USA with a fake passport. In this fake passport, he identified himself as Bhanu Pratap from Rohtak, showed a copy.
Rest of his cases in Rajasthan after escape also include four in Sriganganagar, and three in Hanumangarh....
