Jaipur, Aug. 27 -- Rajasthan Assembly Leader of Opposition Tika Ram Jully challenged the BJP-led government to seek votes during the upcoming civic polls on the basis of its performance rather than relying on what he described as divisive Hindu-Muslim politics. "If the state government had genuinely delivered on development, BJP leaders should go before voters in the civic polls and seek votes on the basis of their work and not divisive Hindu-Muslim politics," Jully said. He alleged that basic services such as education and healthcare had deteriorated under the BJP government, arrangements in government hospitals had broken down, educational institutions were in poor condition and unemployed youth had not received their allowances for several months. He also alleged that several welfare policies and public services that were earlier accessible to people had deteriorated due to administrative neglect. Jully said people were now searching for BJP leaders to get their basic problems resolved, but the leaders had remained absent and only started appearing again as elections approached. He said people were questioning why problems such as damaged roads, poor sewerage, garbage and non-functional streetlights continued despite the BJP government being in power. He also criticised the BJP's reference to the "double-engine government", saying that civic problems remained unresolved despite the slogan. Jully said the upcoming urban local body elections would serve as a report card on the BJP government's failures. Responding to Jully's remarks, BJP spokesperson Ram Lal Sharma alleged that during its tenure, the Congress used every possible tactic to protect and run its government and misused the administrative machinery. He said the party was now making "fabricated and baseless" allegations against the BJP based on that experience. Sharma said people were satisfied with the work of the Bhajan Lal Sharma government and would ensure a BJP victory in the upcoming urban local body and panchayat elections....
