Jaisalmer/Pokaran, May 27 -- The Food Safety Department raided a facility in Pokaran, seizing over 14,000 kilograms of suspected adulterated ghee and edible oil and collecting 13 samples for laboratory testing, officials said. The action was taken on the directions of Food Safety and Drug Control Commissioner Dr T Shubhamangala and under the leadership of additional commissioner (food safety) Bhagwat Singh. A special team from the Jaipur headquarters, in coordination with the chief medical and health officer (CMHO), Jaisalmer, launched the operation against the illegal manufacture and trade of counterfeit ghee and edible oils. Acting on specific information, officials raided premises linked to Satvik Trading Company in Lodha Colony, Pokaran, owned by Yogesh Tavari. During the inspection, authorities found large-scale manufacturing and packaging activities involving adulterated ghee and edible oil. Officials collected five samples under the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSS Act) and seized about 10,260 kilograms of suspected adulterated products, including ghee, palm oil, soybean oil and vanaspati. The team subsequently inspected a Satvik Trading Company warehouse, where products marketed under various brands - including Shri Aahar, Shubh, Kuber, Shrimool, Vinayak and Topper Milk Fat - were found. Authorities collected eight additional samples and seized around 4,000 kg of suspected adulterated ghee. CMHO Jaisalmer Dr. Rajendra Kumar Paliwal said the case appears, at first glance, to involve large-scale adulteration of food products, posing a serious threat to public health.
