Barmer, Aug. 22 -- Barmer-Jaisalmer's former MP and senior Congress leader Colonel Sonaram Choudhary passed away in Delhi on Wednesday night following a cardiac arrest. He was 80.
According to his family, Colonel Choudhary had gone to attend a meeting near Apollo Hospital in Delhi when he suddenly felt chest pain. He drove himself to Apollo Hospital, where he underwent an emergency procedure. After the operation, he even reassured his well-wishers by posting on social media that he was feeling healthy. However, just a short while later, around 11:15 pm, he breathed his last.
His mortal remains were flown to Uttarlai Airbase in Barmer on Thursday afternoon, from where they were taken to his Barmer residence for public viewing. His funeral will be held on Friday at his ancestral village Mohangarh in Jaisalmer.
Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and former CM Ashok Gehlot expressed grief over the demise, recalling Colonel Choudhary's long service to the nation as a soldier and his decades-long contribution to Rajasthan's politics. Both leaders conveyed condolences to the bereaved family.
