Cong targets BJP over delay in local elections; Min hits back
Ajmer, May 26 -- Following the high court's order over the delay in conducting municipal and Panchayati Raj elections in Rajasthan, political tensions in the state have intensified sharply.
Speaking at the Congress district presidents' training camp being held in Pushkar, Rajasthan Congress in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa alleged that the BJP is afraid of elections, not the Congress.
He said the Congress party is fully prepared for any election and accused the BJP of misleading the public.
Randhawa said: "Congress has never backed away from any election and warned that the BJP government might approach the Supreme Court seeking a stay on the high court's order."
Responding to the remarks, state minister Suresh Singh Rawat said the Congress does not need a "chintan shivir" (brainstorming camp) but rather "self-introspection."
Taking a dig at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Rawat said it was good that he was visiting the holy city of Pushkar and hoped Lord Brahma would bless him with wisdom to work in the national interest....
