CCTV footage flags role of staffers in Raj LDC Recruitment Exam cheating case
Barmer/Jaisalmer, July 10 -- CCTV footage and the First Information Report (FIR) have revealed a relief teacher's role in the alleged cheating case during the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSMSSB) Lower Division Clerk (LDC) Grade-II recruitment examination held on July 5 in Jaisalmer.
According to the FIR and the district administration's inquiry, a relief teacher allegedly removed a candidate's question paper from the examination hall by concealing it inside a file before returning it about 12 minutes later. The incident has led to the detention of a relief teacher and a candidate, while departmental action and questioning are underway against several examination officials.
The alleged incident occurred in Room No. 10, where 24 candidates were taking the examination. CCTV footage reportedly shows a man, identified as relief teacher Padam Singh, entering the room at around 3.09 pm and approaching the desk of candidate Manu Kanwar. At 3.36 pm, he allegedly returned carrying a file, concealed the candidate's question paper inside it, and walked out of the classroom.
According to the inquiry, the question paper remained outside the examination hall for approximately 12 minutes. During this period, neighbouring candidates questioned Kanwar about the missing paper. The footage shows her sitting at her desk without the question paper until it was returned around 3.48 pm.
Statements recorded in the FIR allege that when candidates raised concerns, an examiner responded by saying, "We'll tell you too. Don't create a scene." Candidates alleged they were discouraged from protesting.
The matter came to light after a flying squad reached the examination centre around 5 pm, following which multiple candidates lodged formal complaints. Acting on the District Collector's directions, a three-member inquiry committee investigated the incident.
The committee concluded that the question paper was taken out of the examination hall with the consent of the candidate for the purpose of facilitating cheating. It also observed that centre superintendent and examiners allegedly attempted to suppress the incident.
Based on the inquiry report, the chief district education officer filed a complaint. Police have detained Padam Singh and Manu Kanwar. The roles of Centre Superintendent Ummed Singh Rathore, teachers Jalam Singh and examiner Bhim Singh are under departmental scrutiny and questioning....
