Barmer, Nov. 2 -- Barmer Medical College has taken disciplinary action against 80 senior MBBS students, including 15 women, after an inquiry into complaints of ragging involving first-year students. The action, announced on October 30, includes expulsion of 13 students from the hostel, suspensions from academic activities for varying periods and a year-long ban on participation in cultural and sports events.

Seven others were expelled from hostel and barred from academic, cultural and sports activities for 30 days. Eleven more were removed from hostel for 30 days and suspended from academic activities for 15 days.
Fifty students were issued warnings and suspended from academic activities for seven days. Five students were warned that any repeat involvement in such activities would result in expulsion from the hostel and exclusion from academic activities. Their parents were asked to report within three days. Failure could lead to further action.
