Jaisalmer, Oct. 1 -- For the first time, 56 villages in Rajasthan's remote border belt have been connected with 4G internet services, alongside 91 Border Operation Posts (BOPs) in Jaisalmer district. The new BSNL towers, launched on September 27 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will allow residents and security forces deployed along the Indo-Pak border to access seamless mobile connectivity "Earlier, we had to climb sand dunes to talk on the phone. Now we can use 4G in our homes," said Shankar Dan, a resident of Kotha, one of the newly connected villages Rakesh Bhatti, telecom district manager in Jaisalmer while confirming the development said that so far mobile connectivity was not available in many bordering villages. But with Prime Minister Narendra Modi launching the services on September 27, now bordering villages can also access the mobile facilities as well internet services at their home in these remote villages. According to BSNL officials, 49 towers have been activated using indigenous technology, while the remaining will go live within a month.
