20-year RI for woman who exploited boy
Udaipur, Aug. 21 -- A Pocso court in Udaipur has sentenced a 24-year-old woman to 20 years of imprisonment for sexually assaulting a 17-year-old boy, marking the first such case in Udaipur where a woman has been convicted under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.
Special public prosecutor Mahendra Ojha said that the incident occurred in 2023 when the boy went missing from his home. His father filed a missing person's report at Pratap Nagar police station, after which the 17-year-old was traced and returned to his family.
The boy's father alleged in his complaint that the woman kept his son with her, took him to different locations, and sexually exploited him.
During the trial, the court reviewed 28 exhibits, two articles, and the testimony of 15 witnesses, Ojha said. Based on this evidence, presiding officer Sanjay Bhandari convicted the accused and sentenced her to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment, along with Rs.10,000 fine on Tuesday.
