17 people returning from Haridwar injured as van collides with truck
Alwar, June 17 -- Seventeen people were injured when a traveller van carrying pilgrims from Jaipur collided with a truck on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Rajasthan's Alwar district on Tuesday morning. The accident occurred in the Baroda Meo police station area as the group was returning from a pilgrimage to Haridwar.
According to police, the truck's tyre suddenly burst, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The traveller, which was following behind, rammed into the truck. The impact severely damaged the front portion of the traveller, leaving several passengers injured.
Prakash, a passenger in the vehicle, said the group was returning to Jaipur after visiting Haridwar when the accident took place. "The tyre of the truck ahead suddenly burst, causing it to become unstable. Our traveller then crashed into it. Many passengers were injured, but local residents and police quickly came to our aid," he said.
Baroda Meo Station House Officer Mohan Singh said police rescue operations were launched immediately, and the injured were shifted to a nearby hospital with the help of ambulances and local residents.
A total of 17 people sustained injuries in the accident. Doctors said most of the injured are in stable condition.
