Barmer, Oct. 4 -- A major alleged fraud has surfaced in the 2022 Home Guards Border Home Defence Corps recruitment in Barmer, with 17 candidates accused of submitting forged certificates to secure bonus marks and places on the selection list. The certificates, related to sports, Scouts and Guides, ITI and computer qualifications, were found suspicious during document scrutiny and later declared forged, according to a complaint filed by Deep Singh, additional administrative officer, Border Home Defence Corps, Barmer, at Kotwali police station. Home Guard Commandant Mahendra Singh said certificates submitted by the 17 candidates were found to be fake during verification, following which the department approached police. In another alleged irregularity, one candidate belonged to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category but allegedly submitted a certificate showing the candidate as belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category. The department has now approached the police after the alleged discrepancies were detected during the verification process.
