Udaipur, Oct. 9 -- Eleven people were arrested on Wednesday in connection with an attack on Jambua Khana village by a group of at least 30-40 armed assailants over a demand for maotana (death-compensation) for the death of a local woman on September 5, police said. According to police, Bhuri Bai Garasiya, a local woman, was found unconcscious in the nearby forest after she went to collect fodder, and subsequently declared dead at Bekariya PHC on September 5. The attack on Tuesday was allegedly carried out by her relatives, they added, over their demand for maotana. The men allegedly stormed the village, set houses alight and opened fire with country-made pistols, police said, SHO Bekariya police station Uttam Singh said " A a case has been registered against as many as 14 people for vandalism and seting the property on fire and 11 people were arrested so far in this context and investigation of the matter is still underway."...
